Open Position:
Director, Graduate Liberal Studies, Duke University
The Director for the Graduate Liberal Studies (GLS) program at Duke University will oversee all aspects of the program—such as curriculum, recruitment, admission, and student advising—to ensure that it provides rigorous interdisciplinary master’s-degree training for a highly diverse population of part- and full-time graduate students.
The GLS program is administered by The Graduate School, and the GLS director reports to the dean of The Graduate School and to the associate dean for academic affairs of The Graduate School. The director will supervise 3 full-time GLS staff members.
The position requires a doctoral degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience (5 years preferred), in advanced knowledge of academic research, scholarly writing ability, curriculum development, and instructional design, as well as analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Experience in program leadership, graduate or continuing education, and teaching and advising university students is desirable.
